Is it safe?
Safety is a priority for us. You are under the expert guidance of a qualified instructor with over 30 years incident free experience in rifle , shotgun, carbine & handgun.
Can girls shoot as well?
Yes, of course! Sometimes girls actually shoot better than the guys (although you should never say that out loud!)
What is the age limit for the shooting packages?
Due to the fact that we use real guns and real ammunition, children under the age of 10 are not allowed to shoot with anything other than an air-gun, which is still fun. For the Clay Target Shooting we suggest an age of 12, as there is a bit of a kick when using a shotgun. And as long as you can still see the target, ages up to 120 are still accepted.
I have never used a gun before, can I still participate?
Of course yes. Due to the excellent instruction you will receive, even complete novices will have a great time.
Do I need my own gun?
No, we provide everything you need to have a great day of shooting fun.
Can I bring my own gun?
Yes, as long as you are the legal owner of such a fire-arm and with prior arrangement. Keep in mind that you will still fall under the authority of the range commander and will have to adhere to his instructions very strictly. The price remains the same for people with their own guns as when we provide the guns, since the same safety and supervision apply. Remember your relevant fire-arm license, to be produced on request.
Can we do group bookings?
Yes, we have had groups of up to 50 participants. Send us an e-mail with your requirements and we will contact you to tailor-make a package for you.
I am only one person, can I still book?
Yes, for sure. We have a package just for the Lone Big Shot. Try your hand ,and your shoulder with a whopping 50 shots.
What should I wear?
Anything you wish, just not your birthday suit. Take a cap (to keep the sun out of your eyes), and sunglasses. It’s always a good idea to splash on some sun block and insect repellent as well.
What should I bring?
Nothing much,we have a Snack Bar on site for refreshments. If you would like to keep the memories, bring a camera for some amazing pics.
I wear prescription glasses, can I keep them on?
Yes please, it is better for your self-image and your fellow shooters if you can actually see the target!
How strong do you have to be to hold the guns?
A normal 12 year old should be fine. Minimum weight normally 45kg.
Can we invite spectators?
For sure, the more the merrier. Shooting is a fun spectator sport. Please ensure that younger children are under your strict supervision at all times, as the Range Master has the authority to ask you to leave should he feel they are endangering themselves or others.
What if it rains?
Our shooting station is under cover and there is a huge veranda for spectators. If we had a lot of rain , our dirt roads might be slippery and muddy so a small sedan might not be a good idea. Please give us a call before you decide not to come due to rain, as Joburg and Pretoria do not have the same weather as Hekpoort.
How do we get there?
The easiest is to go to GoogleMaps and search for SHOOTING FUN. Let your smartphone guide you to our venue, MAGALIESBERG ADVENTURE LODGE.Detailed instructions and a map are available on our website, and is fully compatible with your mobile phone as well. Check that the format on your GPS is the same as that of the coordinates given on the website (normally under settings on your GPS)
Do I need a 4 X 4
Although there are a few kilometers of dirt road, a normal sedan vehicle will be fine.
Unless we had lots of rain and the roads are muddy and slippery. Give us a call first.
How do I book?
Please Phone 071 877 8600 or email info@shootingfun.co.za , as we only work on pre-bookings . Your booking will be confirmed when we receive your deposit for the date.
How long will the shoot take?
Bit like a piece of string. It depends on the amount of people and the amount of shots.
For the smaller packages, not more than 1 hour, which includes the safety and instruction briefing.
We normally work on 100 shots per hour as standard.
